परिभाषा: एमएस वर्ड माइक्रोसॉफ्ट कंपनी द्वारा विकसित एक वर्ड प्रोसेसर है जिसका उपयोग प्रोफेशनल डॉक्यूमेंट, पत्र, रिपोर्ट आदि बनाने के लिए किया जाता है।	परिभाषा: एमएस एक्सेल एक स्प्रेडशीट प्रोग्राम है, जिसमें आप तालिका(Table) में डेटा को सेव कर सकते हैं।
File Extension: MS Word में फाइल का इक्स्टेन्शन “.doc” होता है।	File Extension: MS Excel में फाइल का इक्स्टेन्शन “.xls” होता है।
Uses: • लेटर, निबंध, डॉक्यूमेंट लिखने के लिए • थीसिस(thesis) लिखने के लिए • Resume बनाने व अपडेट करने के लिए • इसके Tools शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में शिक्षकों और छात्रों दोनों द्वारा आसानी से उपयोग किए जा सकते हैं।	Uses: MS Excel में data जैसे कि कर्मचारियों की जानकारी, कॉलेज में छात्रों की सूची, अस्पताल में रोगियों का चिकित्सा इतिहास, कर्मचारियों का वेतन विवरण आदि को मैनेज किया जा सकता है।
MS Word में नया डॉक्यूमेंट एक blank पेज होता है, जिसमें टेक्स्ट व images जोड़ी जा सकती हैं।	MS Excel में एक नई स्प्रेडशीट एक tabular पृष्ठ होता है जिसमें Rows, columns व cells होते हैं। जिसमें data को प्रोसेस किया जाता है।
MS Excel की tables को MS Word डॉक्यूमेंट में इन्सर्ट किया जा सकता है।	MS Word के डॉक्यूमेंट को Excel स्प्रेड्शीट में इन्सर्ट नहीं किया जा सकता है
MS Word के एक फीचर के द्वारा व्याकरण की गलतियाँ का पता लगाया जा सकता है व उन्हें सही भी किया जा सकता है।	Excel व्याकरण संबंधी गलतियों का स्वयं नहीं पता कर पाता है।
सांख्यिकीय(statistical) डेटा का विश्लेषण और विभाजन कठिन है।	सांख्यिकीय(statistical) डेटा को फ़िल्टर करना और एडिट करना बहुत आसान है, यह एक्सेल की एक महत्वपूर्ण विशेषता है
MS Word में Automatic गणना(calculations) नहीं हो सकती है।	Excel में automatic गणना(calculations) आसानी हो सकती है।
MS Word में फोर्मेटिंग के लिए अनेक एडवांस्ड फीचर हैं जैसेकि WordArt आदि।	Excel में फोर्मेटिंग के लिए सीमित फीचर हैं।
MS Word का उपयोग करने के लिए प्रोग्रामिंग सीखने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है।	MS Excel में कॉम्प्लेक्स और एडवांस्ड कार्य करने के लिए VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) एडिटर का उपयोग किया जा सकता है।
